Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
