Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the identical, a report released Thursday stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the former president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the company, and increased from over 120 in the previous term, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had sought to bring in over a hundred foreign employees for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who possess US visas; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the business aimed to hire 566 overseas workers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, the former president was questioned by certain in the GOP this week for comments justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to invest billions to construct a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he stated to a host after it was implied that overseas employees lower the pay of American employees.
